How many different varieties of apples can you name?

How many different varieties of apples have you tried?

Did you know that there are over 7,500 different varieties of apples grown all over the world and 2,500 of them are grown in the United States?

The most grown apple and most well know is the Red Delicious Apple but the Gala apple is almost as popular. 

Other varieties you may be familiar with are Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Fuji’s,

Granny Smith, McIntosh or Rome. But there are many others as well.

Each apple has its own distinct flavor and each adds its own unique flavor to the recipes you use them in.

Go to your local farmer’s market or produce stand and get as many different varieties of apples as you like to try.

Try one each day or take a bite of each one and compare the smells and taste of each different apple.

Which one do you like the best? The least? Which one is sweetest?

Maybe you will discover a new favorite apple.
