A Year of Daily Inspirational Thoughts

Black Friday

November 26

Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving. Many people have Friday off for a long Thanksgiving Weekend. Traditionally it was a day to rest after a cooking, eating and cleaning up, and visiting with family. For some it was truly a long weekend of visiting with family and the holiday lingers over the weekend.

These days, people rush home, rush back to work, or jump into getting ready for the next holiday season. For many it has been the biggest shopping day of the year.

Do you rush out to start Christmas shopping or just to get some good deals on items you need or want?

Or do you travel home?

Or do you enjoy another day visiting with family and friends?

Or do you have a quiet lazy day sleeping off your Thanksgiving meal and resting from yesterday?

Or do you start decorating for Christmas, getting the Christmas tree up and all the decorations out?

Do you hold on to Thanksgiving a little longer and enjoy more Thanksgiving leftovers?

I like to hold onto Thanksgiving a little longer. I am not in such a hurry to rush into Christmas. And shopping has no appeal for me, at least not on a day that is filled with crowds and the rush into another holiday.

After the full day of food preparation and consumption, but before the busyness of the Christmas season, we set aside one day, the day after Thanksgiving, to spend together with no real work involved. The day after Thanksgiving is a good day to just enjoy family and friends or to take a rest, relax and unwind.

How about a day of relaxing, movie watching, lounging day?  A day to just be quiet and together. And don’t forget to enjoy some leftovers!

What is your day after Thanksgiving Tradition?
