Practicing a Loving-Kindness Meditation

I recommend looking online for a loving-kindness meditation script to follow along with. Our minds have a tendency to negative anything good we ourselves try to tell it. But if you are comfortable here is a simple way to begin a loving-kindness meditation.

Schedule quiet time to do this meditation

Get comfortable and relax

Begin by settling into following your breathing pattern when you are ready continue with the next steps

Surround yourself with loving light and compassion

For several minutes focus on yourself and say these phrases to yourself

  • May I be well
  • May I be at peace
  • May I be healthy
  • May I be safe and protected from harm
  • May I be happy and content

Then move on to family and friends, If you want to be specific here with names then say each name in place of they and repeat for each person.

  • May they be well
  • May they be at peace
  • May they be healthy
  • May they be safe and protected from harm
  • May they be happy and content

Then move on to the greater world

  • May all beings near and far be well
  • May all beings near and far be at peace
  • May all beings near and far be safe and protected from harm
  • May all beings near and far be happy and content
  • May our planet be well
  • May our planet be at peace
  • May our planet be safe and protected from harm
  • May our planet be happy and content

There are many other phrases you can use and substitute for these. This is just a starting point. Eliminate and add phrases that fit your needs and circumstances, and desires.
