September 30

Leaf Peeping

Leaf peeping is a term used when people travel to view and photograph the fall foliage in areas where leaves change colors in autumn.

Many people plan road trips to the mountains and to places like New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Upstate New York, and Canada.

There are many places near and far where you can take some time and enjoy a beautiful drive through colorful tree lined road. Or go hiking up a mountain or in a forest to really get into nature and the full experience of enjoying the changing colors of the trees.

The best time to go leaf peeping is mid-September through early October, when the leaves really start to turn colors. So now is the time to plan the perfect leaf peeping trip.

So where will you go? Nearby for a day trip or weekend outing? Or will you plan a weeklong journey of enjoying a drive through mountain towns or one of the top leaf peeking destinations?

Timing is everything so once you pick a place, you need to see when the leaves will be in peak season. This will take a bit of research but you can get a good estimate of when the leaves in the area will be close to peak.

Once you know when the best time to go is, you can pick your dates and make your plans. Add in time to take in some cultural food, music, wine tasting and to enjoy a fall festival in the area.

Since leaf peeking is all about nature make sure you enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking or biking.
