Thanksgiving Food

Food is an important part of our social gatherings. When we gather with friends or family most often it involves a meal.

At Thanksgiving food even comes more to the forefront. Thanksgiving celebrates the harvest.

Thanksgiving dinner is the foundation and highlight of Thanksgiving.  Turkey is the most common main dish of a Thanksgiving dinner.

Traditional Thanksgiving foods include: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, gravy, sweet potatoes, corn and dinner rolls.

Depending on where you live and where you grew up there are many variations of what ends up on the table on Thanksgiving. Some other foods include; ham, goose, duck, quail, prime rib, Dungeness crab, and venison.

What is your traditional Thanksgiving include?

What’s your favorite part of the thanksgiving meal?

Have you ever had a non-traditional Thanksgiving meal? What was it? Did you enjoy it?

One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories is a time when I was visiting with a friend in Wisconsin. They had a gathering of family and friends. The host family made the turkey and gravy. Everyone else brought one dish, their favorite Thanksgiving dish that they just had to have at Thanksgiving dinner. It was a wonderful experience to see and taste all the dishes that were special to each person. And to share the stories related to their favorite dish.
