Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is a magical night. Christmas Eve is my favorite night of the year.

As I child I looked forward to Christmas Eve almost as much as waking up Christmas morning to find out what presents Santa left.

Growing up, Christmas Eve, started with an evening service. Going out to dinner was the highlight of our evening. When we got home we opened our Christmas pajama present. Changing into our new pajamas, we gathered around the tree, listening to music and having hot chocolate. Sometimes neighbors came by and joined us.

Christmas Eve has many of its own customs and traditions.

Reading “The Night Before Christmas”. Singing Christmas Carols. Leaving out cookies and milk for Santa. Have a feast of seven fishes. Driving around to look at the holiday lights. Put on new Christmas Pajama’s and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace and/or the Christmas tree. Play Christmas Games. Watch a Christmas movie.

Every family has its own rituals on Christmas Eve.

Some families open presents on Christmas Eve and others wait until Christmas morning. What does your family do?
