Merrymaking

It’s that time of year when summer time has finally arrived in full force. It’s time for vacations, family gatherings, cookouts, pool parties, beach trips, and just some good old fun.

When was the last time you had some good old fashion merriment?

What memories do you have of holiday or summer festivities?

What is your favorite summer festivity?

In my hometown growing up, every year we went to the parade downtown in the morning. Picking up donuts and drinks, and going to our favorite spot on the parade route. We would meet neighbors. Community members would come by to say hello. We would excitedly wait for my day to come marching by, and for Rex Trailer to come trotting over the bridge. We would wave to all the people we knew and yell out their names as they paraded on by.

After the parade, it was home to spend the afternoon, hanging out with family and friends by the pool, swimming, diving, cooking out, eating and drinking all afternoon.

And we would end the night all walking through the path over the brook, to the shopping plaza across the street from where they did the fireworks in a field, to settle in to watch an amazing fireworks display.

. Joyful celebrations include family, friends, fun, eating, singing, dancing, and playing games.
