Time to Pull Out the Crockpot

Yummy Food-Easy-Comfort. This is how I feel about crock pot meals. If there is anything that I actually like about the weather getting cool is that I can pull out the crockpot more often.

A crockpot is actually a brand of crockpots. But there are many other brands of crockpot style slow cookers.

Cooking meals slow at low temperatures help make meat more tender along with making everything taste delicious. A slow cooker brings out the flavor in foods. A wide variety of foods can be cooked in a slow cooker, including one pot meals, soups, stews and casseroles. You can use your slow cooker to cook a whole meal, make bread, cook beans, it can even make great deserts.

The great thing about a slow cooker is you do all the prep, put it in the pot, turn it on and do nothing. At the end of the day, you have a delicious meal ready and waiting for you.

One of the most important elements of slow cooking is to not open the lid! We often have a need to open the lid and smell the food. A secured cap generates steam which creates a seal. Each time you lift the lid and lose steam, you may be adding 20 or so minutes to your cooking time, so no peeking unless instructed by the recipe!

Nothing makes you feel better then delicious food. It is a wonderful feeling to come home to a full cooked meal after a busy day. It may take some planning the night before and in the morning but at the end of the day, it is soo worth it!
