Home is Where the Heart Is

Home is a physical dwelling, the place where we live. Often we think of home as the place where we grew up. The idea of home often incudes gathering of family (and/or friends).

It is a place that you live / have lived that you have an emotional connection to.

Home can also be a place where you feel that you belong, usually because your ideas or attitudes are the same as those of the people who live there.

Home should be an enjoyable, happy place where you can live, laugh and learn. It’s somewhere where you are loved, respected, and cared for.

Our Home provides security, control, belonging, identity, and privacy, it’s a place that provides us with a centering—a place from which we leave each morning and to which we return each evening.

So our meaning home is usually much deeper than just a building or physical place where we live.

What does home mean to you?

Home sometimes is a place you discover after you leave home. Sometimes home your growing up home or where you live now is fine but something inside you is leading you somewhere else.

We grow up and move out and make our own home.

Sometimes home isn’t a building where you live. It may be a feeling that arises when you are being creative, or out in nature. Maybe it is living a lifestyle that is comfortable, makes you happy, and provides contentment.

I am at home now in my apartment, I feel comfortable, safe and content. But my heart feels at home when I am at the ocean or better yet when I am at sea far from land.

Where do you consider home?

Where do you feel at home?

Are they the same place or are they something different?

We discover where home is by leaving home to either find our place that we feel at home or realize that home is where our heart is with family and friends wherever they are.

Sometimes you have to leave home to go home

Where is Your Heart Home?
