Choose Happiness

 

Be Happy. What is happiness? Can we really just choose to be happy?

We often think of happiness as something that comes from something outside of us. We are happy when we buy something new we want, when something good happens to us. We often also think that happiness will be something we will be when we accomplish some big goal or achieve some dream. We look for events or circumstances to make us happy. Those of brief moments of happiness that die once the excitement and thrill is over.

We have this vision of what happiness is and should look like. We spend much of your life in the pursuit of happiness rather than just being happy in the moment.

Happiness is a state that you can create. You can choose to be happy no matter what is going on around you.

When you cultivate contentment than it is easier to choose happiness. Happiness comes from being true to yourself, feel content with where you are, and satisfied that you are doing the best you can in this moment.

Living in happiness, choosing happiness isn’t easy. It doesn’t mean being euphorically happy all the time. Choosing to be happy means that you cultivate contentment and satisfaction where your overall day and life is happy, where you see the positive in your life, where you are grateful for the blessings in your life no matter what your circumstance in the moment.

  • Show compassion
  • Listen to your heart
  • Choose to do the best you can
  • Be active, try new things and experiences
  • Cultivate healthy relationships
  • Smile and laugh more often
  • Take care of your body, mind & spirit
  • Be open minded
  • Be creative
