Christmas Music

Music can be found everywhere in the world. It is, after all, the universal language. There is no other form of music that has been embraced across the globe like Christmas music.

Music plays an important role in the traditional festivities of Christmas.

There is something about Christmas music that just makes people happier.

There is nothing like hearing the holiday songs that you grew up with. The nostalgia you feel listening to your favorite Christmas tune has a pleasant neurological effect in which the brain’s pleasure circuit is stimulated, releasing dopamine and serotonin which are responsible for those happy feelings.

American Christmas songs range from Christmas Carols to secular songs about Santa Claus and general goodwill. There are classic traditional songs to new modern Christmas songs. And there are songs that were not written as Christmas songs that have become associated with Christmas.

Silent Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, O Come All Ye Faithful,  O Holy Night, What Child is This?, We Three Kings, The First Noel, Away in a Manger.

White Christmas, I’ll Be Home For Christmas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Let It Snow! Santa Baby, Blue Christmas, Let it Snow.

Deck the Halls, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus, Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, We Wish You a Merry Christmas

All I Want for Christmas is You, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Last Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock.

What is your favorite Christmas Carol? What classic Christmas song reminds you of your childhood? Of home? Of family?

What Christmas song lifts your mood every time you hear it?
