Focus your attention on what nurtures and sustains you in life. On everything that brings you even the smallest amount of pleasure. It also means practicing gratitude by noticing these everyday things that you take for granted so easily.
It’s the little things in your life that will reveal your likes and dislikes, your strengths and weaknesses and your needs and desires. If you pay attention to them, you can learn a lot about yourself and how the world works
That first sip of coffee or tea. A walk on the beach or a hike in the mountains. Being silly with a child. A moment of quiet. A conversation with a friend. A simple conversation with a stranger. Getting lost in a book. Cooking your favorite food and savoring every bite. A piece of chocolate. Seeing the sunrise and sundown. Stargazing and philosophizing about life. Laughing until your muscles start aching. Watching a movie or your favorite tv show. Eating breakfast in bed.
Life isn’t always perfect, and sometimes your days can be stressful and busy, but in between all the business and rushing there are moments, little things that matter. They give you hope and faith that all will be well, that everything really is ok.
Taking time to appreciate the pleasures life brings, however small, can promote satisfaction even when things don’t turn out how you hoped.
