Castles in the Sky
Dreams of life, dreams of summer, we all have dreams that seem like castles in the sky. Dreams that seem unattainable, unreal, unrealistic.
My mom use to call my dreams and my dad’s plans “pie in the sky dreams”. She believed that they were impossible to ever come true and we should focus on more practical matters in life.
But we both kept building castle’s in the sky. My dad did make some of those pie in the sky dreams come true. I watched him build his own successful business and enjoy the fruits of his success.
His dream lead to dreams of travel and cruising on the ships that came into port in Boston Harbor. And that is where my love of travel and cruising came from.
I still dream those castle in the sky dreams that seem impossible yet I will never give up on someday cruising around the world.
The trick with dreaming and holding on to those pie in the sky dreams is to take small steps in building those castle in sky. By building the picture in detail, then building one section or piece at a time in reality.
I may not have taken one big cruise around the world but I have taken many smaller cruises around sections of the world. Eventually I will have cruised around the world.
What is your “castle in sky” dream?
So build your sandcastle that represents your “castle in the sky”. You can build it in the sand to envision it. Or you can create a vision board or a dream scrape book, or paint or draw a picture, or write it out.
In shaping the sand of your castle you will understand the steps you need to take to actually build the dream come true.
In building a sand castle you can allow for shifting sands, new discoveries, new interests and new opportunities that you can’t see right now to help shape and create that seemingly unrealistic dream into reality (or at least in some earthly resemblance!).
The final product might not look exactly life that original dream but if you look the core dream will be there in some shape and form.
So dream those “castles in the sky” and those “pie in the sky” dreams. They are the path way to creating your dreams come true.
