Play-Doh

Play-Doh

Today is National Play-Doh day. Play-Doh is a modeling compound for arts and crafts projects. The product was first manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, as a wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s. Play-Doh was then reworked and marketed to Cincinnati schools in the mid-1950.

What are your memories of using Play-Doh?

The simple act of playing with playdough, squishing and rolling it, can help you to relax, focus your attention, and relieve stress.

The great thing about Play-Doh is that you can use it to create whatever you can imagine and if you mess up you just mix it up and start all over again.

When you are being creative with Play-Doh you can take risks, mix things up, try something crazy. You learn that the Play-Doh is flexible and forgivable and easy to manipulate. You learn it’s ok to not get it right the first time because it’s easy to start over and try again or just try something else. Change your mind about what you are creating and create something else. Then again you can just experiment and see what you create.

Maybe it’s time to use some Play-Doh creativity in your life.

Experiment with some Play-Doh and see what you can create when you don’t care if you make a mistake and know you can do it again or just roll it up into a ball and have fun.

Be Flexible and Forgivable
