Mindful Relationships

 

Being present with others improves our relationships which enhance ourselves and our life. It is a proven fact that having good social connections make us happier and live longer. By focusing on the relationships that matter most to us we lead happier and healthier lives.

Being mindful allows us to create better relationships with others.

Be kind. Be understanding. Be compassionate. Practice gratitude. Show you care. Provide support. Be supportive.

Create a space of trust. Don’t judge, Focus on similarities, not differences.  Allow the other person to be who they are and feel how they feel. Acknowledge. Accept who they are. Accept their feelings and choices. Be able to disagree. It is about respect for each other.

Being mindful enhances your sense of awareness. When you are more aware of what the other person is saying, doing, and feeling. You can better hear and understand what they need and want for you as a friend. Listen deeply to someone and notice what they are saying. Pay attention to their body language.

Being mindful makes you aware of your feelings and reactions and helps you respond to others from a place of compassion rather than just reacting from your own perspective or past history.

Using mindfulness in your relationships will:

  • Help you be more present and attentive
  • Enhances self-awareness – aware of what is your personal judgments
  • Will lower your emotional reactions and improve your emotional control over your responses and reactions
  • Improves your communication skills to not only hear and understand what the other person is saying but to make your feelings and thoughts clear and concise without judgement of the other person
  • Makes you more empathetic and compassionate
  • Improves your connections with others and your relationships creating better relationships

 

Make time to connect. Have meaningful conversation. Have fun. Play, Laugh, and Enjoy each other’s companionship and company.
