Put the Kettle On

Put the Kettle On

Tea rituals have been carried out for centuries in many cultures.

The ritual of tea time is a source of pleasure, peace, calm, and delight. Tea rituals are rooted in mindfulness and living in the moment.

When the days get busy and hectic take the time to put the kettle on. Having a tea ritual at home is a wonderful way to take a pause, be present, reduce stress, and enjoy all the health benefits of drinking tea.

Tea is chock-full of flavonoids, which are naturally-occurring compounds with antioxidant properties that can protect cells against free radicals. Consuming a diet rich in antioxidants might help reduce your chances of developing diseases, like heart disease and cancer, according to Mayo Clinic.

Complete to the entire process of making and drinking your tea mindfully, paying attention to everything you do from putting the water on to boil, to choosing your tea, to preparing the tea, to sipping and enjoying the tea, to cleaning up and putting it all away.

And don’t forget to add in the tea snacks, whether it be cucumber sandwiches, smoked salmon, a scone, an indulging pastry, or simple cheese and crackers.

A mid or late day tea ritual feels special. The soothing ritual helps you live in the present moment. It will help you unwind and relax. It will balance your blood sugar and benefit your heart. It will also help you from over eating.

Celebrate this moment you are taking for yourself; appreciate this opportunity to step away from your busy day to slow down and recharge.

Add an additional component with some connection by inviting a friend or friends to a Tea Time Social.
