Morning Routines

 

What kind of morning routine do you have? How do you start your day off?

It is said that that how you start your day is how your day goes. Starting the day of in a way that supports you and gets you moving on a positive note helps you handle anything that may come up during the day.

When you start your day frazzled anything that happens can just add more stress that is unhealthy and will make your day full of misadventures.

Maybe a day of misadventures can turn out to be fun but only if you are lighthearted and at peace when they occur.  

Most successful people wake up very early and have a routine of mediation, exercise, personal time, quality time in whatever way enhances their well-being. What time you wake up and get up isn’t what really matters, what matters is you wake up and get up early enough to have time to prepare your for the day ahead whatever time that is for you.

I myself do get up extra early, I give myself two hours before I need to leave the house. I wake up slowly. I like waking up slowly and not feeling rushed and jump out of bed. I actually did that for many years. Now I choose not to. But maybe jumping right out of bed and starting works for you.

I actually have two alarms. The first one I just roll over slowly and turn on my teapot which I have by my bed for convenience. But I do not rush up. I drift in and out of sleep allowing my body to slowly wake. When the second alarm goes off, I get up and pour a cup of tea. Which I have sitting in bed. I journal while I drink my tea and relax looking at the ocean.

Then I finally head to the bathroom and get ready to head off to start my day. After I am dressed and ready, some days I have a small breakfast, some days I just take a cup of tea out to the deck and meditate looking at the ocean.

Then I am off to work for the day. Days off my morning is much more relaxed although once I get going you will often find my in bed writing on the computer as I am this morning. I have yet to get up and have breakfast which I will when my body tells me it is time.

Of course I prefer mornings like this one but I make my days I have to go out to work as close as possible to my days that are my own to schedule my work assignments.

What does your morning look like? Does it need some adjustment to help you start your day off content, relaxed and ready to face anything that might arise?

What you need may not be what works for me. Research famous people’s mornings. Research someone you admire morning routine. Experiment. Find a morning routine that gets you relaxed and excited to start your day.
