Developing a Mindful Practice

Developing a Mindful Practice

Cultivate a habit of practicing mindfulness throughout your day. Mindful March is all about creating and living a mindful lifestyle.

Learning to experience and appreciate life in all its aspects equals joy, fulfillment and peace. I believe it is magical. Learning mindfulness and living mindfully was a blessing in my life.

Living engulfed by depersonalization and derealization, looking for a way out, I discovered mindfulness through Jon Kabat-Zinn’s work. (I lived not far from where he lived and worked.) Mindfulness was my first step into coming back to life.

In fact, you could say mindfulness saved my life. It brought peace and some joy into my days.

Developing a mindful lifestyle means committing to live the intention of being mindful each day.

Set an intention to live mindfully each day. Set that intention each morning. Start your morning routine being mindful. Each week or month or day whatever is comfortable for you increase to doing two of your daily routines mindfully. Commit to focusing your attention on at least one activity each day this month.

Bring mindfulness to life. If you have an exercise routine that is a great place to practice mindfulness as well as your morning routine or evening routine.

Then I challenge you to bring it more fully into your day. Practice mindful breathing, mindful eating, mindful walking, mindful kindness, mindful to your body, mindful to your feelings and emotions, mindful of the beauty around you, mindful of the sights and smells around you.

Commit to being fully in each moment. Be present in everything you do without judgment of what you are doing, just being aware and fully present.
