 Make Time for Yourself

I am sure by now you are already thinking, I don’t have time to fit this self-care and self-nurturing in every day. When your day gets busy and hectic the first thing on your list to get cut is anything that is for you.

It may even feel like just another obligation to add to your already busy day.

If you don’t make time for yourself, you are telling yourself that you are not important. This affects your well-being and your capability to handle your responsibilities and obligations.

When you take time to take care of yourself, your entire family benefits. The well-being of your family depends on your well-being. So you owe it to not only yourself but to those you love and care for to take care of yourself.

Make a list of the 10 things you feel you need to do to be healthy and happy. Make another list of things you want to do to improve your well-being-mind, body and spirit.

Go back over you assessment of your day. Find spaces of time that you could take a small action towards your self-care.

Start with small amounts of time but increase over time. If you start with once a week with one activity, then next month increase to 2 times a week. Once you are in the habit of doing that once activity several days a week then add a second activity.

Wake up early and have a few minutes to yourself enjoying your tea or coffee, journal or meditate. Or take a few minutes before bed to read or journal.

Steal very short moments of time a minute or two. Take small moments between activities, to stop and breathe or just step outside and take in the sights.

Begin with short times of 10-15 minutes. Add in an activity such as exercise, meditation, walking, or an activity that you enjoy and wish you were doing more of.

Feel free to try different times of the day and different activities until you find what works for you.

You will know it is working when you have a solid routine that you do without thinking about it because you are not only enjoying it but you are feeling/seeing the results of feeling good after you have finished.

It is better to take small amounts of time everyday rather than once a week but start with whatever works.

What time of day and what activity will you schedule and commit to for a week?

Once you do it for a week commit to a month.
