Notice the Good in Yourself

Do you ever have anything nice to say to yourself? Is all your self-talk negative?

When was the last time you complimented someone? When was the last time you complimented yourself?

Giving compliments to others seems to come much easier to us than giving them to yourself. What are some of the compliments you have given others recently?

Do you feel like giving yourself praise or a compliment is boasting, bragging or conceited? Having those kind of feelings about self-praise is what stops most of us from acknowledging the good in yourself. You feel like it isn’t even right to compliment yourself on something you have done well or are good at.

Ignoring or playing down something good about yourself tells yourself you don’t matter.

It’s ok to be proud of yourself. It’s ok to talk nice to yourself or think something nice about yourself. If you have done something good, accomplished a goal or task, completed a project, you should acknowledge yourself.

It feels good to have a smile on your face and be excited about something you accomplished. Giving yourself positive feedback about something you have achieved or completed or that is good about yourself helps you feel more confident.  It empowers you to try to continue to reach for your goals.

Praising yourself and acknowledging your accomplishments, strengths, your capabilities, your achievements builds self-confidence. Self-confidence enhances your well-being allowing you to take risks, try new things, and move forward with your goals and dreams.

Compliment and acknowledging what you do well help you through difficulties and challenges. You will know your strengths and know that you can handle whatever the situation is.

You are your biggest influencer. Even if someone else compliments you it may feel good but it isn’t as important as what you yourself think.

You will achieve more goals. You are the person who encourages you forward or discourages you from moving forward or trying something new or taking a risk that might be difficult.

Your compliment can be simple. I accomplished that task. I did my best and gave it my all. I stepped out of my comfort zone and took a risk. I found the solution to my problem. I worked through that situation despite my fears (or anger or doubts).

Give yourself a compliment…

          On your intellect

          On your looks

          On your personality

          On your generosity

          On your kindness

          On an accomplishment or achievement

Are you finding it hard to come up with a compliment? If you are pretend that you are a friend whom you are giving a compliment to.

Make this a part of your evening before bed at night. Give yourself one compliment for one thing about you for that day.

You deserve to receive compliments from yourself.
